A short Herzog doc. Follows Walter Steiner as he shatters ski-flying records. It’s wild to witness Steiner, seemingly built for one specific function, realize that function at 1/20 speed. Dreamlike. I love how Herzog finds subjects like these, capturing something special where others wouldn’t look twice.

The image of him flying thru the air in slo-mo with his mouth open is indelible

There are so many. I have great love for The Great Ecstasy of Woodcarver Steiner.

Maybe some unorthodox choices but I’ve always been into non-narrative, experimental documentaries. Some of the best I know are “As I Was Moving Ahead, Occasionally I Saw Brief Glimpses of Beauty”, “Koyaanisqatsi”, “Sans Soleil”. These were some of the purest, most powerful cinematic experiences I’ve had in my life, so I’d suggest you peep them. On a (slightly) more conventional note, literally any documentary made by Herzog

Not just for dads! Informative and soothing. So many subjects and typically feature a wide range of perspectives. Long live PBS.

Arguably the most consistent way to hang out with friends at least once a week. So many venues have them. Activity! Camaraderie! And you usually learn something. Thursday is the best night for this, I think. Gives you something to look forward to other than the weekend.

Wim Wenders’ existentialist odyssey. Lots of big questions and ideas and themes. Everyone should watch once.
