robert pollard (of guided by voices fame) made an entire AOR album with tommy keene. highly recommended when you're Yearning for Americana or need a soundtrack for your next 1995 jeep wrangler purchase lol

heard this album for the first time yesterday and i was really blown away. really inspiring guitar work, evocative lyricism, and just a deep melancholic, longing atmosphere throughout the albums hour long runtime.
Peterson formally was the vocalist for Lift to Experience, a short lived post rock / shoegaze band from texas who released the high concept, biblically inspired album the Texas-Jerusalem crossroads in 2001. one of my favorite albums, and listening to his solo stuff really cemented him as one of my favorite songwriters. even if you typically donβt like the country-adjacent singer songwriter stuff iβd highly recommend checking this out.

If you live anywhere from the rust belt to Nebraska, you will about one thing per minute that speaks to the Midwest/forgotten American town experience on this album. K-Mart parking lots, dirty spring snow piles, family mini-vans with 200,000 miles.

a recent peruse of the art library reminded me of lovely artist, educator... and CATHOLIC NUN corita kent, often described as "warhol's kindred spirit in the convent".
get with sister kent, i say this as a former catholic school girl.
