Love the part where he goes, "'My favorite song,' she said, and it was Joni singin 'Help me, I think I'm falling'" — and he breaks into the melody, just like Joni does with the Frankie Valli song on the radio in "This Flight Tonight"
My all time favorite Prince song: a weird, warped little blip of a thing from his Sign O’ the Times LP that bites from Joni Mitchell, spins a tale of instant attraction + the dangers thereof and tells you basically all you need to know about the dude on what would have been his 66th born day. 🎂 💜
I wrote a tribute to him just after he passed for Magnet: https://magnetmagazine.com/2016/04/21/r-i-p-prince-1958-2016/
I just about fell off my chair the first time I heard this. It's unofficial, floating around on the YouTubes. I think there was a (brief) relationship between them, too. I once saw Jeff accidentally in 1993 at a little (long gone) LES cafe called Sin'e on St. Mark's Place. He was doing Dylan, Van Morrison and Edith Piaf covers, we had a Rolling Rock, wondered why a bunch of models were there, then split for CBGB's. We were young/dumb and didn't recognize the greatness we were seeing in such an intimate space that night. But this is the mountaintop of heartachy music. I miss you Jeff.
"In a flamboyant gesture the Blond Actress lifted both hands to her hair, took hold of the luxuriant platinum-blond wig and detached it from her own hair... tore it free, and tossed it to the wind. '"Mon-chan"—loves you! And you! And you!'"
