Incredibly rewarding to give back to the Earth. If you are lucky enough to have a backyard, you likely find an easy compost system that works for you. Hopefully your big city has one too.
A lot of information about compost is very focused on efficiency. But really all you need to do is have a pile of fruit & vegetable trash (no dairy no meat) that you mix half and half with dry materials (compostable carry out, recycled brown paper bags, grass or leaf litter, etc.). We use little home compostable trash bags to discourage non-insect animals from partaking. Stir and then water the pile once in a while and watch your yard (and surrounding yards) come back to life.

It's not only for people who garden! I just learned that it also allows food waste to decompose properly without releasing a bunch of methane into the atmosphere. There are lots of compost pickup services too (Bootstrap Compost covers the Boston area and RI), some of which even trade it for fresh soil for your own garden or donate it to school programs!

1. Throw veg scraps in blender 2. Add water and make a scrap smoothie 3. Pour it on the ground
I started doing this when I lived in an apartment a few years ago and now it’s part of my #vanlife. Idk if this even counts as ”real” compost but it’s better than throwing food in the trash!

I’m a big football fan but sometimes you gotta undermine its ultra-masculinity. i diced some apples and threw some pumpkin seeds into a spring mix to watch the games today. :)
