Multiple reasons to visit NGA, but the free screenings are among the top for me. Thought provoking programming that is usually tied in some way to ongoing exhibitions. I donโ€™t watch trailers so I love to go in there without any expectations. Shout out to the lush red velvet seating - so cozy.

Staying at the Roxy in NY (formerly the Tribeca Grand) is akin to being on an elegant cruise in Manhattan. Itโ€™s my home away from home in the city. Everything is there: from live jazz in the massive atrium lobby with the glass elevator zipping up and down and the divine food and drinks (I recommend the lobster roll and a mescal cocktail) in recessed leather booths shaped like teacups, to the gorgeous red velvet theater below - which offers the best films on screen in Manhattan - curated by the brilliant Illyse Singer. After attending a killer film and fascinating Q&A, retreat to the Django, the speakeasy next door, which stays open til 4AM and is often where the hottest underground music acts playโ€ฆ What else could you ask for?ย

In 2011 I was in a cab coming back to Brooklyn after a night out, Torn by Natalie Imbruglia was on the radio. It was one of those moments where you look out the window, see the city, and think, "Damn" I love it here. Regardless, the lyrics kicked in. From the backseat, I said "I love this song." The driver did too. He turned it up. We sang. He turned it up even louder. We sang even louder. If the vibe strikes, full send.
