This is an all-time fave of mine. I first heard it a "Jesus Drinks Free", a vinyl night run by Boston Hassle in Jamaica Plain where the DJs would play country western, soul and gospel tracks at the Jeanie Johnston Pub. This song stuck in my head, there is something that really hit me with the refrain "So you think you're a cowboy/but you're only a kid".
Also, I've said it before and I'll say it again, Emmylou Harris has a GOAT voice.
First time I heard this song I was at a bar in Indiana on honky-tonk night. I stopped dead in my tracks and started crying before I could even comprehend why. The band killed it. I can barely take this song, so I only listen to it when the time is right. Gave it a listen today. I love it so much. ♥️
Even if you have other creative pursuits that require your brain to work, it’s fun to have one that requires very little thought or attention. I started crocheting a couple years ago and it’s perfect while sitting in front of the TV or listening to a podcast or just zoning out. Makes me feel productive even as my brain melts out my ears, and makes me feel creative even when I’m not doing any cooler, more challenging projects that require more of my energy.
