Its so rewarding to watch those aha moments, when eyes brighten with understanding. I didn't think I was going to enjoy teaching freshman composition as much as I have been. I love pushing these kids towards competency in their college careers. I love inviting them to think critically about the world around them. I love the surprise in their eyes when they realize they've been smart enough to be here for a long time.

If someone’s teaching me something small that I already know, I like to just pretend I don’t. Teaching and sharing gives people happy chemicals and makes them feel good Like if you’re getting something from the store, and the sales person is giving you their tips about it that you already know from YouTube — nice to just let it happen

today I taught myself how to do something I’ve been wanting to learn for years. All it took was some mental determination and YouTube and ~voila~ joy forever. The gift that keeps giving.

It’s a fantastic hangout jazz record that still rewards close listening. they find the perfect flavors to explore with piano and vibraphone. Lies somewhere in between Debussy and Fat Albert music.
