I live in Vermont and the best part about that is being 1.5 hours away from Montreal. I will just go up there and walk around until my legs are sore. Even during three feet of snow people will be out respectfully having the time of their lives.

ok I do like toronto but my husband is obsessed with montreal and it feels the closest you can get to europe in the US while toronto felt like a cleaner more boring NYC. both have good food and fun things to do but montreal would be my pick! we were supposed to go there for my birthday/to get engaged a couple years ago but i showed up to the airport with my passport card NOT my passport so we didn’t get to go lmaooo still had a wonderful bday/engagement but im desperate to get to montreal someday and my husband hugely recommends it!!

one of my favorite cities in North America, my poor French aside, everything about it is so unique and beautiful, from every conversation to one of the best views of a city you can have. Much love to New York City and London, but part of my heart always is in Montréal

Basically the only city in US/Canada that seems to privilege quality of life and the tenets of social democracy and cultural autonomy over theocratic hegemony of mammon/mini-malls (but will still feel somewhat inhuman due to the grid-centric street system and the massive autos). Quebec City is smaller but might also be vaguely recognizable.

I like setting the rice cooker while I get ready for the day, it’s like a timer for my routine. Sometimes I’ll make an egg to go on top, but usually I just mix the rice with a packet of instant miso soup and some hot water to make a savory porridge/ochazuke.
