Small dance floor so not gonna recommend it on a weekend but sound/vibe will be legit for actual dancing. Also in NYC the real dancers βΒ for house at least βΒ tend to follow particular DJs (in the Paradise Garage and Club Shelter traditions) but I am personally out of the loop so you'd best ask the rug cutters in question when you spot them in the wild. Also look into Friends and Lovers in Crown Heights β another spot run by old-school heads.

Pick your favorite outfit. Keep buying the components for that outfit. You want to have a minimum of 7 of each item but an upwards of around 2 dozen. Be resolute in your taste. Do not stray from your path. line your closet with repeats.
The album by the Microphones. I was shown this album by a close friend as i was entering college and suffering from a sort of death-of-innocence. I was extremely depressed at the time and also extremely cringey philosophy class doom and gloom whatever. but this album inspired me to write music for the first time. and i feel like the textural exploration, melacholic but catchy melodies, and hyper-intimate lyricism all remain top priority for me today.
