Before Substack, before PI.FYI, came this woman's blog. I have been following her monthly newsletters for several years now and she's always got such interesting recommendations. I always stumble upon interesting books, art, music, videos, people, blurbs on the cities she's visiting, etc. Still don't know who she is and I love that she's totally okay with being anonymous. Whoever you are Little Aesthete, I admire your taste.

lyta gold - writes about issues around media literacy, sometimes rapid-fire reviews, and occasional digressions about star trek becca rothfield - reviews books, writes books, and generally has novel perspectives on a lot of issues that are usually only discussed in inane ways on social media alexandra leaving - the most personal blog-ish of the ones so far, but luckily she is a pretty interesting and funny person. i recommend her weezer article in particular. i have more but in the interest of brevity thought i would end with pi.fyi comrade mdoinurmom's blog generally ambitious, which i just started reading fairly recently but have greatly enjoyed what i've seen so far (btw i basically only read substack through my RSS feed and i recommend y'all do the same)

this is my favourite substack by a long shot - celine writes so intelligently about books, media, design, technology, architecture and lots of other topics - she's always reading books and sharing about artists that i've never heard of so i always learn a lot and feel inspired to think more deeply about the media i consume and the environment around me - i've linked her post on research as leisure activity which i really recommend reading!

fun and snappy commentary on pop culture and the beauty/fashion industries. She’s also a voracious reader who does a monthly reading roundup, basically all my favorite things!

The Epic City by Kushanava Choudhury. I feel like I'm transported to another world. The writing is beautiful and very funny at times.
