aka Paul Dano writing self-insert fanfic for 1 hour and 44 minutes– ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (jokes aside, this is a fabulous film written by Zoe Kazan– who also plays the titular character, Ruby– that provides great commentary on the male gaze, the inherent tropes that accompany female love interests & how easy it is to fall in love with the idea of a person rather than taking the time to understand who they truly are.)
i feel like im seeing a lot of people hate this movie. HOWEVER im going to be controversial and say i loved it. who cares if the little to no plot barely makes sense. who care if its basically a fanfic with a huge budget. lets allow these erotic odd movies to be viewed, even if its just for the sake of being viewed and not for substance.
coming of age movie about grappling w ur burgeoning sexuality and your sudden onset craving for human flesh at the same time. we've all been there before this was the first movie to make me feel Seen.. like julia ducournau made it specifically for me and nobody else.. not sure what that says about me but i’ll treasure this movie forever

adults need slumber parties and funfetti cakes and going to the amusement park, we're the ones that have LIVED long enough to earn it !!!
