i went for a run for the first time in a while yesterday, and, while walking was a bitch today, the soreness in my legs gave me a sense of accomplishment
proud to have finally gathered the energy and mindset to go out on a nice sunny day and run around in my local park to my favourite songs of the year blasting in my headphones. was i struggling to walk the next day? yes. still worth it and canโt wait for my next exercise outing.
I stopped running for the summer and switch to cycling and swimming to give my joints a rest. When I started again this fall, the first run back sucked ass. Everything hurt, I couldn't get enough air, and my pace was embarrassing (compared to past performance). But just one week later, my legs toughened up, I felt bouncy, and my time improved. It's amazing how quickly the human body can reconfigure itself to meet a challenge. Runs are back to feeling fun.
I'm recovering from a long injury and absolutely delighted to be running again yesterday I went on a glorious 10K through the rain โย was planning to run three miles but just kept going: down a dirt road, through industrial parking lots, through fields, sliding down embankments, by the airport, cloistered neighborhoods, winding narrow roads with minimal shoulders โ splashed by roaring trucks, what a thrill!
