Reading an entire book from the pov of the main subject in a science experiment is fun, but now make the subject go from forrest gump level of intelligence to surpassing college professors.
I don't remember if I've read the whole thing so this is not an endorsement of it. Anyway it's pretty interesting. It's about biology but written for an interested, but not necessarily trailed, audience.
A fantastic, underappreciated gem of a short story. A tour-de-force of a philosophical mindfuck. A shockabuku*, ala Grosse Pointe Blank. The Egg is all of these things, and more.
Go read it now, it won't take long.
* "A swift, spiritual kick to the head that alters your reality forever"
this book literally changed my life and completely upended way i think about consciousness. octopus intelligence is the closest thing we have (and probably ever will have) to studying alien minds and this man makes the absolute most of it.
bare fascinating especially if you already like biology shit, and if you don't, trust me this will change that.
