sometimes your mind has to expand in a different direction. put down the russian literature. the didion. whatever it is you flash ppl with at the boutique coffee shop. pick up the Ice Planet Barbarians. the colleen hoover. i dare you
I'm currently reading The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson and omg there's something in its prose I can't figure out yet, but it's just so enchanting.
I always recommend re-reading stuff you love. And some classics (they are what they are for a reason). If you're open to reading mexican lit, Pedro Páramo is a great ghost-rural-mystic-dream like-nostalgic-dusty-eerie novel.
