I watched the keynote live bc i am a nerd and thought it was pretty cool. It reminded me of how watercolor paint is made from pigment. The next day i started seeing articles criticizing the ad. I see how people can be upset, but i interpreted it as distilling all the creative hobbies that people have into a singular device. It does also fit the metaphor of ai and tech replacing these hobbies that ppl are accusing it of, but i didn’t interpret it that way when i saw it.
A great writeup about the recent Apple iPad commercial and how it's a perfect indicator of the noxious relationship between Big Tech and art/creativity. It's also worth subscribing to the newsletter - pretty much everything Dan writes is gold.
Remember going to websites? Remember reading blogs? Remember the feeling of discovering some new art because a human being on the internet recommended it???
