mp3 players are cool. The iPod was really cool. Used iPods are expensive. Used Zunes are relatively cheap and easy to open up and replace the battery and hard drive if needed. Get a Zune.
My dad got it for free at some Microsoft event and gave it to me in middle school. I have very fond memories of burning CDs from the library and putting it on this brick of a device. I was so attached to it that I used to REFUSE to sign up for Spotify because I didnāt ālike my phone and music being on the same device.ā Very easy to use, loved that it was black in contrast to Appleās white. Would never look good inside pants pocket because of how fat it was though.
FIIO and sony still make some brand new mp3 players which are very sleek and nice and have audiophile features but can get kinda expensive / overpriced. Older models from lesser known brands like cowon iaudio / iriver probably go for next to nothing on ebay and have CRAZY gadget features (check the article linked for some examples) that apple never deigned to, and behave like a regular old flash drive so they're likely to never go obsolete in terms of software. I loved those little things. I should go and find mine at some point.
