In the latest RPDR untucked, when comforting M’hiya Iman Le’Paige, future miss congeniality Amanda Tori Meating says this. I think we need to normalize telling people when we write good things about them in our journals. But obvs not telling them what we wrote exactly, that would ruin the point of privacy! Just that they are gaggy and we did in fact write about it in our journals.

I was tempted to only post about things called Bobs on here. And believe me, I definitely could! There’s so many Bobs out there and their stories need to be told! But sometimes you just need to drop the gimmick and be yourself. What a novel concept! Rainbows!🌈 Sunshine! ☀️ Even my attempts at being genuine are coated in a dense layer of viscous, sticky, absolutely-icky irony. It’s tough to get it off sometimes, but I’ll keep scrubbing away.

Annie hamilton’s lip filler review is my personal fave version of this I’ve read (linked), I’m also rereading and re-enjoying Lauren oyler’s longer form piece about the goop cruise from Harper’s last year. (As I type this I realize both articles also are about nonmonogamy, this is not pointed I promise)

A menswear newsletter I adore named dropped an article I wrote for my own — yes, I did fan girl. It’s nice to see people who have more weight in an industry still acknowledge a much smaller writer. I am giddy.

Sometimes I recommend being a hater. I’m not here to talk about the numerous quality uses of AI, how often it is actually used nor am I here to critique AI without strawmanning it. I don’t care if I strawman an account of AI because I genuinely despise the way most people use AI. I think AI generated images are ugly. I think that AI cannot hold a half decent conversation. I’m completely avoidant when it comes to showing AI my writing; I’ve never done it and I refuse to. I hate when you go to that one poetry website and there is AI “analysis” there, because its not real textual analysis and it upholds a certain contextualised intentionalist framework of reading a text reinforced in high school English. I hate that the meta AI will influence what products will be advertised to you. I don’t care if it’s the future. I genuinely love being called a dinosaur because I hate AI.

When we let go of the fear we hold towards the smallest creatures of our environment, and learn how to immerse ourself in an instance of nature rather than making an instance of nature our own, we learn to truly be alive. Bugs are great because you can’t own them, but you can admire their beauty. #bugnation2024
