Iām not talking about the dish itself,
as wonderful as it is but instead the absolutely optimal level of effort required to prepare it that makes you look like a proper home cook + impress your loved ones without making a mess of it - plus - the consistent stirring puts me in a nice meditative trance, very pleasant for someone not generally taken to the idea of cooking being a relaxing activity
meditative stirring, chopping, layering of ingredients (I often go for a ratatouille when Iām having a bad day because itās a lot of prep) you get time to be distracted or reflective and get something nourishing at the end of it. might involve a trip to the store but that can be cleansing in its own way.
something about cooking is just so peaceful. monotonous and obligatory, sure, but itās just a little sliver of calmness in my day that reminds me of when i did it with my mom or my dad or my grandmother. i now love to cook for myself but especially for other people
probably my favourite film series of all time and rewatching for the first time since ābefore midnightā came out in 2013
let those themes of the transience of lived experience + the weight of timeās passage deepen and resonate more truly for you baby!! Reflect on the person you were then and the person you are now! All that good stuff ā¦
Iām talking - environmental themes // da man Tom Bombadil // Ralph Bakshi // vintage paperback covers that look like a prog album sleeve // Ents ?!! I find this inexplicably charming + also really have come to enjoy the extent to which Peter Jackson adapted this āvibeā more than he adapted the books with 100% fidelity
