I don’t have a minds eye or an inner dialogue so I really need to talk out loud to get any thoughts together. the first time i heard this song i was in my 1st period art class junior year of high school. i remember having to step out of class to cry. so insanely well written and beautifully performed and it feels so personal but universal. the song is meant to (in the narrative of the album) represent ethel’s reflection of her life from heaven and the feeling is so well translated. if you haven’t listened to preachers daughter Please God do it.
