Whenever I see a leading man from a 70s movie or a 90s sitcom star getting a fit off, I immediately start searching the halls of Etsy and EBay for similar attire. See: James Caan in The Gambler
Whenever I watch The X Files I open up Vinted and I scroll through it like it's a social media app and favouriting anything that vaguely resembles whatever Scully is wearing that day. The rest of my wardrobe is already inspired by Audrey Horne & any fictional man who clearly has autism and likes to wear long coats. I also own dungarees in exclusively mario and luigi colours that I keep accidentally pairing with blue sweaters
I have a habit of rewatching films rather than finding new ones which I’ve been breaking recently - and one of the perks of expanding my viewing horizons has been seeing cool clothes. Some films I’ve enjoyed the clothes in recently: * The Craft
* The Faculty
* Father of the Bride
* Office Space
my current obsession is to find out the brands of clothes i see worn on tv series and then look for them on second hand websites. i’ve found a couple cool things so far but my favourite piece was my first ever find - a jacket seen on smallville’s lois lane which i love and it always gets me so many compliments! it’s so fun to channel your favourite characters in that way
Though obviously not accessible to everyone, having a car in NYC is incredibly underrated. The road rage, the drives to the airport, the cross-borough transfers with umprecented ease, the loaning your cars to friends for a nice weekend. also sort of your own little sanctuary if you ever need it. nothing like ripping through the center of the universe in your own motorized avatar
