Brian Wilson made Pet Sounds, widely considered the greatest record of all time. He also made this. Grab a pair of headphones and I’ll see you on the other side

sharing my favorite beach boys albums today to spread their music to yall after Brian's passing and starting with Pet Sounds, which is probably their most well known album. one of the greatest albums ever made, and very ahead of its time. despite how popular it is now, it was not well received in the US, as it was deemed “weird” by a lot of people. my favorites from the album are “God Only Knows”, “I Just Wasn't Made For These Times”, and “Caroline, No”

synth-pop album that Brian Wilson has said was his favorite album he ever made, and I would have to agree. everyone loves Pet Sounds, but do you know the beauty of “Ding Dang”? this is the second album in the Brian's Back era, which started with 15 Big Ones and ended with the M.I.U. Album, where Brian was brought back to the public eye after a period of not writing, producing, or performing music with the group. my favorites are “Solar System”, “The Night Was So Young”, “Honkin' Down The Highway”, and “Let Us Go On This Way”

Film critic Sean T. Collins sat down and wrote about Road House (1989) every single day for a calendar year - essays, poems, lyrics, meditations, whatever came out when he sat down that day. I love projects that double as feats of endurance, where you see an artist’s creative energy ebb and flow on certain days, or trace their descent into madness from, say, Day 7 (“I have a lot of thoughts about Road House”) to Day 207 (“my God, my God, what else is there to possibly say about Road House”). I recently learned about this completely sincere ode to David Duchovny in the X-Files from singer-songwriter Bree Sharp. It’s silly but also a very representative cross-section of 90s pop-rock. High karaoke potential
