in which someone took Mark E Smith’s vocals from Grotesque and the instrumentals from Emotional Rescue and slapped em together. works great, 2003 wants its time back…

One of the first bootlegs I made (it doesn’t sound great, but makes up for it in emotional value).

Found a reissue for something like four dollars. far and away most known for ‘It’s a New Day’—the opening drums are one of the most sampled in all of soul music. But, the whole record is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Not all are great and you gotta deal with some real dregs, but what a rush.

https://breathers.bandcamp.com/album/designed-to-break https://thehecksdotcom.bandcamp.com/album/my-star These bands likely didn’t know each other but they have a very specific, future-forward-from-the-past aesthetic that shines on both of these albums. Breathers are maybe more arcane and really floor the FM synth lane nobody wants to be in, and The Hecks are a little more muscular and referential. Both are weird, memorable, nervous, overlooked albums.
