somehow i only made it around to listening to this album a couple months ago and now i can't stop. everyone else i know listened to it at like age 15 but i am 22 absolutely going thru it emotionally to this album lately
gforce2001gonna age myself but anything after folie a deux (that is after their breakup and reunion) i never listened to — but i stan the 2003-2008 discography!!
The first band I ever loved and an entry point into rock music for me in middle school! I heard this album and declared “rock music is my life now” and 18 years later I’m still rockin. I plan to get a tattoo of the sheep on the album cover (its name is Franklin).
my top albums are definitely folie a deux and infinity on high. i really love how just pure pop punk infinity is and then folie is just super experiemental. it’s a cool switch before the hiatus and it’s fun to see where you can tell they had different visions for their music. top songs gotta be “fame < infamy” and ”i’m like a lawyer…” for infinity and “tiffany blews” and “(coffee’s for closers).” “saturday” and “where is your boy” have special places in my heart though. and all of the hits.
I love doing collages, cuz all you really need are magazine cutouts and glue. There's a very low barrier to entry, skill-wise AND supply-wise, unlike painting. Digital collages are fun too, but I try to have less screentime by doing the paper ones. If I want to re-use pieces instead of gluing them down permanently, sometimes I'll just take a picture of the current arrangement to immortalize it, and then start over on a new composition. That way, I don't have to constantly buy new magazines to get new cutouts. This is one of my favorite ones I've done so far:
if you have a job that lets u read in ur downtime, they're a great portable option that doesn't require you to invest full focus like you would if you cracked a novel open on the clock! plus they are cheap & open you up to all sorts of niche content you wouldn't encounter otherwise :)
