Thrifting is amazing for so many reasons: - sustainable - a fun mission - affordable - good quality stuff at a much lower price - anything and everything is possible! I like to go to the more affluent thrift stores in the burbs (the old ladies like to donate their good brands, silk, cashmere, ect). My method is to go in with an intention, a manifestation, if you will. More times than not, it will be there! Bonus thrift karma if you bring an offering to donate. I will take it rack by rack - shove everything to one side and shift through as quickly as possible - looking for higher end brands and materials (silk, cashmere, linen, denim, leather, and cotton). Avoid rayon, acrylic, polyester, anything synthetic if you can. Fashion repeats itself every 20 years so likely whatever trendy item you’re looking for already exists from another decade and likely it will be better quality. Last point is to know the difference between vintage and thrift. Vintage stores they have already done the “sourcing” so they are marked up. I love the grimy thrift stores and the smaller ones (not Goodwill - prices are a fking joke there). I also do a lot of online searching on Depop, Poshmark, EBay, fb marketplace, Mercari, ect. Found an entire new wardrobe for my partner online for less than $200.

you dont always need to sell them and you barely wear any of it. give it to someone who will love it!

i needed new clothes, like i absolutely have no clothes to run an errand in or go out in. I just have chill at home clothes that have stains and holes in them maybe tmi but im on the internet to be free. Anyway you could go thrifting alone but it’s always better to have a second opinion on stuff or in my case have someone choose stuff for you because you’re an absolute basket case and can’t sort or look through stuff and decipher what is cute / what will fit or not.

i keep needing surgery and seriously hurting myself, kinda for the first time in my life. i had gotten road rash a million times but never did anything that left more than a lil scar. healing from surgery and my broken rib has sucked but it has really changed my relationship to pain & my body. pain is much more tolerable and i feel much more comfortable with my body being in flux. i don't think this is actually a recommendation...
