Bring back transgressive arthouse cinema! Iām so over everything out there this movie hits all the non-pc spots I crave in this era. Hilariously absurd yet existential. Also, see: The Holy Mountain, Sweet Movie, The Scary of Sixty-First, Tout Va Bien, Le Septieme Continent.
just some of my faves:
- One Sings, the Other Doesn't (dir. Agnes Varda)
- La Piscine (dir. Jacques Deray)
- Visages, Villages (also Varda. she is the best)
- Diabolique (dir. Henri-Georges Clouzot)
- Passages (dir. Ira Sachs. maybe not a "fave" but a modern one and def interesting!!)
- Une Femme est Une Femme (dir. Jean-Luc Godard. Only movie I've seen of his that I've liked lol my anti-rec is Breathless)
french movie about ACT UP , an HIV activist group in Paris in the 1990s, even tho the movie is a little long i think the pacing is amazing and provides not only a good overview of the history of AIDS in France, but also a more personal perspective on the conflicts within the queer community and individual experiences, it has some unnecessary mlm sex scenes as is typical of a lot of gay movies but overall the relationships portrayed here are really tender and show how people find community in a shared painā absolutely loved it!! happy pride
I hadnāt planned to post this because I feel like I post only about food eheh, but Loli told me to do it anyways, so
