Cars suck for so many reasons, but one is that they stop you from walking around and getting to know your neighbors. Neighbors are cool because, even if you’re radically different people, you do share a neighborhood. That common link can spur unlikely but fulfilling relationships. Feels damn good!! Try it out!

It's by far the best part of living in NY and it blows my mind when people don't take advantage of it.
Nothing in the world brings me more peace and joy than getting up and doing the rounds: shooting the shit with the deli guys, chatting about the weather with the crepe shop guy as he spreads the batter, laughing with the dude who owns the pet shop about how bold the new shop kitten is, conceding that it's definitely been too long since the last time I was in as the laundromat ladies playfully chastise me

Going for a little walk and maybe meet some people on the way to a cafe try to initiate small talk even if you feel like they’re gonna be a bore, most of the time you’ll actually enjoy it. Just talking in general it’s actually so fun to just talk to people.
