I just got really really really tired sitting on my couch, and then I realized my gas on my burner had been open for like the past two hours. I have a CO detector but I guess it wasn’t like…enough yet….. Anyways. You should buy one!
soso important to have functioning monoxide detectors! but important to know that they don't detect gas leaks (which is uncombusted methane coming out of your stove or furnace...)
you can buy a methane alarm (sometimes called an explosive gas detector) but they tend to be a little pricey and can be too sensitive if your kitchen is poorly ventilated
In the same way that you don’t want to put food in a cold oven…
I don’t want to walk into my cold living room in the morning… So I turn my little space heater on, aim it into the living room, shut the door, and let it preheat for like 15 minutes. I am no better than a rotisserie chicken.
If you’re within an hour walk from home, you should just walk home.
I understand taking public transit or an Uber there to be on time, but you’re not rushing to get home. Thus, walk.
