Season 1 episode 4, jimmy and bunk do a whole 5min scene using only variations of the word fuck. The Sopranos season 1 episode 5, “college” Tony takes Meadow to visit some colleges in Maine, perfect. The Last of Us episode 3, “long long time” shaking crying incredible. Friday Night Lights season 1 ep 20, “mudbowl” even if you don’t care about football this show is so good (except s2 bc writers strike). Yellowjackets season 1 ep 9, “doomcoming“ đŸ€

that's my short list, but The Wire is the clear GOAT. Also: every HBO miniseries is *top tier*. Every one. It's ridiculous. FX is also remarkably consistent, in general.

If you haven’t seen The Wire I will join the cacophony of voices insisting that you simply must watch The Wire. It may be the single greatest story in the history of television and it is my favourite show of all time. I think the first and second seasons especially benefit from a binge—the first season is slow to start and the second starts you off with new characters and a new setting which can be a bit jarring on the first watch. But if you trust the process and keep with it, it’s incredibly rewarding. I also recommend watching with subtitles if they don’t bother you (Baltimore slang is tough!)

Even if you have other creative pursuits that require your brain to work, it’s fun to have one that requires very little thought or attention. I started crocheting a couple years ago and it’s perfect while sitting in front of the TV or listening to a podcast or just zoning out. Makes me feel productive even as my brain melts out my ears, and makes me feel creative even when I’m not doing any cooler, more challenging projects that require more of my energy.
