When I was in college in Nashville I would always see ads for their shows written in chalk on the sidewalks on campus, and people wearing their crew neck sweaters.
Then I saw them play live in the backyard of the now shutdown(?) Ooko Studios in East Nashville.
They haven’t released much music recently, but what they have out is great!!

I’ve been into this band since 2017 & they inspired me so much back when I was in college. I was also listening to them right around when I was both getting into the concept of “mathy” music and going to my local shows in NJ for the first time.
One of my most memorable shows was driving one of my newer friends to see Peaer on an autumn, Sunday night in a church recreational space, 40 minutes away on a super rainy night. The venue’s parking lot was gravel and next to the church’s graveyard and there was probably 20-25 people total, including the bands.
And it was so worth it, hearing Peaer live finally and seeing their musicianship in person. I have a real love for bands that are trios of drums, bass, guitar & vox, how you can hear everyone individually, but also how just 3 people can create such a wall of sound together. It was so important for me to see them live at that age, and I’m so glad I pushed myself to make the drive down there.
They haven’t come out with music since 2019, an album called A Healthy Earth which I had on repeat religiously. So to have a new single from them with that same guitar tone, funky time changes but new formulas and ideas has been incredibly lovely.
I’m thankful they’re still around and continuing to create 🍐

I've been mainlining the Acetone discography over the past few weeks, in preparation for their shows in Brooklyn this weekend. They were great last night, with the 100-year old Marshall Allen opening for them. Tickets remain for tonight and tomorrow.
Their music has an appealing vibe: warmly depressive, youthful 90s-slacker counter-culture sounds. Nice, quiet harmonies, and really clever guitar playing. Varying amounts of country flavor, depending on the moment in their history. RIYL: Low, Red House Painters, MJ Lenderman, Townes Van Zandt

Mamalarky is one of my favorite bands making music right now. I saw them live last spring when they were touring for their album Pocket Fantasy (one of my AOTYs last year!). Their music is intricate and plucky and has a nice coat of distortion on it. Everyone in the band shreds and their music is so fun to sing and dance to. This set they did for Audiotree is a good sample of their music from their last 2 albums plus a new one!
Bonus fact: Livvy (vox + guitar) and Noor (bass) played (still play?) in Faye Webster's touring band.

These chips are so strong that they will burn your tongue. They are chemical perfection that make the systems in my body dance. They are so rock and roll. No matter what size the bag, I will probably finish the bag.
I always eat the folded ones first, and then move to the unfolded ones.

If you’re within an hour walk from home, you should just walk home.
I understand taking public transit or an Uber there to be on time, but you’re not rushing to get home. Thus, walk.
