You could spend you time doing anything. If you don’t like football, why bother? Is it really American culture to watch the sport playoffs just so you don’t feel left out when your coworkers talk about the advertisements and commercials the next day? Is it really the football that brings you together with friends and family, or the fact that you ordered a pizza and made a special dip? Every year that I make it out alive, I find new ways to exercise my free will and avoid falling into the trap of an NPC life. Not watching the Super Bowl is an easy and effective way to acknowledge that I’m in control of my own destiny, and I don’t need to do things just because everyone else is.
