if you would like to have the way you talk forever altered read this. i started reading it when i was 15 and now i am the way that i am. very funny. dark humour. some very 00s era verbiage but it's fine. if you get meta about it you can watch the author's marriage fall apart in real time through the medium of his comics. have linked to the "new to achewood?" strip for ease of getting new readers into it but it's worth going thru the whole archive

I need to thank user chiawase_ and hers Cathy comic strip rec, because it reminded me of a beloved, now inactive, tumblr blog called Kathy Ack. It combines the Cathy comic strips with the writings of author Kathy Acker, creating a surreal and irreverent collage of texts writen by women reflecting on their minds, bodies, relationships and world views through completely distinct lenses. All singing must now be howling!!

Read this a while back would highly recommend, explores what people do online when we think no oneโ€™s watching (beyond, stalk, scroll and look up recipes that is). It covers how what we do with people we know online and offline can differ immensely and what happens when those worlds intersect. If youโ€™ve read it Iโ€™d be lying if I didnโ€™t add that PI.FYI reminded me of PORK somewhat and the old music sharing message boards of the early internet days

my current Obsession. a well-written, freely-accessible webnovel turned webtoon with an incredibly original plot and dynamic characters. complex worldbuilding that feels grounded in modernity. really, REALLY good writing with unexpected plot twists, humor, and drama.

time frame's approximate buuuut you know it when you hear it. think "poker face". there is so much space and everything's so dry... there is no lushness... the drum samples are unbelievably flat... and yet! and yet! it works so well! the economy of production makes any pop singer's vocals soar even higher than they would otherwise, and really pares the machine of a pop song down to its bare necessities... which is why i think we got so many bangers in this period. there's a lot of good stuff to get into even if it's just for nostalgia

tbf i'm still working on this but: many ppl have the tendency to like, put themselves out in the world with an attached asterisk like "oop! sorry i exist! oop! sorry if you don't like me, i'm working on being the universally beloved human object! oop!" and thusly pre-apologize for every mildly annoying or perceptually uncouth action they will ever take. none of that shit. assuming one is regular and not trying to like, destroy the lives of everyone around themselves, one does not need to constantly explain and apologize for their actions. trust people to tell you if you suck, because They Will. same goes for art obvs. don't apologize just make it and if people think it sucks they'll tell you.
