About a year and a half ago I played Elden ring with no dark souls gaming knowledge and got my ass handed to me and made it through the base game by the skin of my teeth and thanks to lots of summons and spirit ashes. I was immediately in awe of the mechanics, level design, world building and boss/enemy AI that from software created and I wanted more.
So I worked backwards and played dark souls 3 still not quite sure of all the intricacies and hidden gameplay mechanics and again, stumbled my way through till the end. It wasnāt until beating both bloodborne and the original dark souls that I felt like I finally started to get how to play and enjoy these games rather than suffer through to say I did it. long story short, Iām in the middle of a new playthrough of ds3 and itās crazy to have like tangible proof that Iāve gotten better and āgetā these games. Beating the first boss in 1 try (first playthrough took me maybe 25), starting as a deprived so that I had to be more resourceful. Idk itās fun to see how far Iāve come as a player! areas that scared the shit out of me that I wouldnāt take the time to explore Iām now getting to see and im finding soooo many new things. i love you dark souls š
nicky999doors Elden ring is the most difficult out of all of them for new players I think just because of how massive the game is!! my first playthrough I spent 120 hours and I hadnāt even discovered 2 giant areas of the map yet but had already ābeatā the game. It just has sooooo much content but it is so fun!!
Dark souls 3 is a lot more linear making it slightly easier to understand whatās going on and not miss as much.
I play Elden ring on ps4 if you ever wanna play! I also am on this discord server where you can find ppl to help you w areas/bosses :)
While theyāre frustrating as hell, itās hard to find something these days that takes my full, undivided attention. these games are unforgiving at the beginning but slowly getting better and developing a muscle memory has shown me itās never to late to learn a new skill. I love losing myself in this game, if only for just an hour, and knowing I didnāt even look at my phone
lately i havenāt been playing video games nearly as much as i used to, but iām getting back into the groove with elden ring for the upcoming DLC thatās dropping. hidetaka miyazaki, the director of this game, is an uncompromising and inimitable force in the world of game design, and his collaboration with GRRM for the lore underpinning this particular game is an interesting twist. elden ring is, to me, the perfection of the lineage of games that miyazaki and FromSoftware have developed (mainly dark souls): from the visual language to the thematic direction to the brutally minimalist combat system to the haunting level and world design⦠if youāre near the target audience, this game wonāt be easily forgotten.
They make me feel safe and are my friends ok? Tell me you could just walk past this guy at CVS and not save him⦠couldnāt be me. He joins the others
