A quirky Michael Cera vehicle I really liked but not solely because of him. Hannah Cross and Sophia Lillis are terrific and nuanced as his somewhat estranged sisters. Trauma and loss shape all families. Who then grow up and have to create new relationships with each other beyond just early sibling bonds. And Men At Work’s best song (by a country mile) fits perfectly into a lovely little reunion vignette. ❤️

A dramedy about a young gay man who comes back to his hometown of help care for his mom after she’s diagnosed with cancer. Starring Jesse Plemons and Molly Shannon with supporting performances by John Early, Maude Apatow, and Bradley Whitford. I’m always drawn to movies about dysfunctional families and this one ranks in the Top 3.

One of the more interesting and original movies I’ve seen this year. It’s more than the premise suggests, and way more than your typical wannabe Kaufman and/or Kafka story. Provocative, daring, and really quite funny. Also I can’t get “I Wanna Get Next To You” out of my head.

this is such a strangely profound movie with so much heart that ive formed some odd bond with over the years the vibe of the coastal rhode island town the relatable weirdness of extended family the ever-comforting steve carrell 'sad guy' archetype a coming of age b-plot from the perspective of a parent that plays into the overall theme of the film the feel of the family cabin the very mid 2000's musical choices cant recommend this stupid little romcom enough

The man responsible for dozens of Teenage Symphonies to God "Sad songs about happy things" (the first time, as a kid, I can recall the sweet/sour combo of melodies that could make you cry attached to songs about endless, bottomless love) I've long since lost track of how many weddings and funerals I've attended that have featured this song; suffice it to say, "a lot." God only knows what we'd been without him 🙏🏻

Hey tyler hopefully this doesn’t violate some PI.FYI golden rule But after nearly two years of writing, editing and arguing, my book about the EP is coming out in May and can be preordered here: https://hozacrecords.com/product/aifl/ The book is about the origins, history and cultural impact of the EP since these little objects first started coming out in the 50s. Over 50 of my music biz friends then helped me shape the list and review the top 200 ever released, according to us (ha). For those of you who are into this kind of geekery/snobbery, I can’t wait to hear what you think. A labor of love, as all books are! ❤️
