With Taste of Things out, can’t recommend this earlier film by Tran Anh Hung enough. Co-starring the coolest cat around Tony Leung, CYCLO is like Tsai Ming-liang meets Martin Scorsese.
I don't think I can put into words how much I enjoy Wong Kar Wai’s filmography. Thanks god I live in a time where I can watch it for free. My favorite is "In the Mood for Love." I've never seen such intimacy without any physical interactions. By physical interactions, I mean kissing or anything more. The main characters' relationship is pure affection. From the moment they meet, there's a spark between them. for example, it seems to me that it is no coincidence that they move into the same apartment on the same day. their rooms are next to each other. their belongings are moved at the same time, and they even get mixed up with each other. for example, one of them ends up with the new neighbor's records.
they are going through similar difficulties in their relationships with their partners. at the same time, they are not shy about expressing their feelings while being married. it is not often that you can see such a thing.
it is a very beautiful movie and an impeccable love story. The characters are insanely beautiful, the sets are stunning, and I'm not even mentioning the main character's dresses. AND TONY LEUNG IS MY BABYGIRL🧸🎀🩷
amazing mixed documentary 20 years in the making about China, beautifully interwoven with fiction and scenes from the directors past work, this is my first Jia Zhang-ke film so it definitely didn't hit as hard as it could've but man i'm ready to dive into his filmmaking after watching this. super cool experience. couldn't reccomend enough! first third featured some of the best clubbing scenes in any movie i've seen. i fell in love. was able to catch at the frida cinema
This documentary on street kids in Seattle plays like a fiction film co-directed by Terrance Malick and Harmony Korine. Such naked vulnerability has rarely been photographed.
A four part doc series that starts as true crime and then becomes much more, a journey into the rabbit hole of conspiracy, three letter agencies, and the nature of truth itself. (FULL DISCLOSURE: I was one of the editors, but am so proud of this series, and would watch it immediately if I didn’t help make it)
