*my friend rishi thinking on this valentine's day abt how i wish for tenderness for us all, remembering who i've felt tenderness from and tenderly toward in turn <3 & milan kundera - “Tenderness is the attempt to create a tiny artificial space in which it is mutually agreed that each will treat the other like a child.” & bell hooks - "There can be no love without justice. Until we live in a culture that no only respects but also upholds basic civil rights for children, most children will not know love." & hala alyan - "Empathic imagination is what allows you to understand that the leap between your child and someone else's is no leap at all. More than a million people are being bombed in a neighborhood they were ordered to evacuate to. A little girl starved to death among her decomposing relatives, while nearby the emergency workers sent to rescue her were charred to bits." thinking also about how our tenderness can be a source of fierceness in taking actions to, as rasha abdulhadi has said, throw sands on the gears of genocide, to refuse the illusion of inevitability propped up by the machinery of war event calendars -arab resource and organizing center -jewish voice for peace -ifnotnow - samidoun (EU) orgs links to get plugged into about actions & advocacy - palestinian youth movement (linktree, instagram, twitter, facebook) - arab resource and organizing center (linktree, instagram, twitter, facebook) - jewish voice for peace (linkinbio, instagram, twitter, facebook) - ifnotnow (linktree, instagram, twitter, facebook) tenderness, a human right, and #ceasefirenow as a bare minimum. free palestine.

From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free. #khalas This weekend, I had the joy of celebrating NAAHM at a friend’s gallery opening. It’s hard to put into words how powerful it felt to be in that room. It was so much more than great art and good people. In a time when people are being persecuted, displaced, and punished for speaking out in defense of Arab lives—especially in Gaza—this gathering, though celebratory, also held mourning and sorrow. We are witnessing a rise in anti-Arab and anti-Muslim hate. And yet, to be in community, to honor this moment so fully and unapologetically, was a small act of resistance. That truth echoed in our smiles, our conversations, our presence. I’m deeply grateful to be welcomed into these spaces—and even more grateful to stand side by side with my brothers and sisters in arms. There is no liberation under occupation. In a conversation last night, a friend reminded me: we can’t wait for others to save us. Liberation won’t come from outside. We have to show up for each other. We have to care deeply enough—for our neighbors, our people—to fight for one another. I‘m grateful for art, resistance, and the power of community. May we never stop showing up—for each other, for truth, for freedom. The land remembers. The people remain.
