I was in LA for a little while recently for a reading, and I’ve always been fascinated by LA, mostly because of being a San Francisco loyalist which I will defend to my death. wonderful town, I’m fascinated how it gets to people, even if it isn’t really for me at all. Is it the location? The sprawl? The fantasy? The vibes? The history (I had a Mike Davis audiobook on my drive down)? I’m not a total pessimist about it and would love to learn more specifically, I just find the artifice of it so neat, even if I get it from a remove as a San Francisco semi-cynic.

3 weeks of living near LA and I finally went to do the Hollywood Blvd. tourist thing. Looking for parking recommendations I saw a bunch of people saying to just skip the spot because it’s kinda gross and just a tourist trap. They were right of course, but I still had a good time being a tourist😒. Yes, it’s not interesting because you live here, but for someone visiting/just moving here it’s a pretty unique experience. Let people be tourists and enjoy their life

Been in Seattle a handful of years now, and really taking in how beautiful the PNW can be through others’ eyes and stories. Also some major nostalgia goggles for 90s Seattle.

i was born here but haven’t lived here since i was a few months, before moving back for university. i’ve always wanted to live in an urban area with a lot of young, college aged people, and this is the perfect place for that. there are always festivals, thrift pop ups, art gallery openings, historical buildings and events to go to which i love. i enjoy meeting strange people who are part of various scenes, going to the goth club and spending time with my interesting friends. the public transportation is also great, since i don’t have a car and don’t plan on getting one either.
there is however a very large homeless issue that has been going on for years, and a housing crisis, and even my favourite cheap sandwich place has had to jack up their prices, but what can you do.
i plan on staying here for university and possibly moving away for post-grad, but this place will hold a very special place in my heart forever
