- Harry Nilsson: Greatest Hits (vibe: jam) - Bill Withers: Greatest Hits (vibe: jam) - Jessica Pratt: Jessica Pratt (but all her stuff is amazing) (vibe: soft & pretty) bonus things that would probably be great if my car had bluetooth: anything by Jeff Buckley or Jaala (vibe: i need 2 scream and/or cry while also having the time of my life) or Kamasi Washington (exactly the same, but it’s instrumental & maybe more fun)

in no particular order, here are some of my favourites! • delhi-6 - a.r. rahman 🪔 great movie, experimental, funky soundtrack which uses the best parts of sufi and classical indian music and blends them into modern beats • when the pawn… - fiona apple 🍎 just her voice, it’s so evocative i love her • grace - jeff buckley 🌌 rip. this is such an angelic album; it had my back during my breakup (still does) • folklore - taylor swift 🧦 ah yes, this one is music i fell in love with during the pandemic; it’s really written for the elder daughters with mommy issues • desire, i want to turn into you - caroline polachek 🚉 a very sensory experience actually, it keeps my brain moving, and not to mention her insane vocals?? • om shanti om - vishal-shekhar 🕉️ my favourite bollywood movie, and a beautifully created soundtrack in which every song comes back to the same riff to keep you in the loop of the even more amazing plot. a must watch and a must listen! • charm - clairo🪻 cozy, melancholic, loving and so beautiful, another healing album for me • pretty. odd. - panic! at the disco ☔️ nostalgic and memorable; this is the most beatles-y of their discography • rockstar - a.r. rahman 🎸 another insane album by him, very soulful, moving and essentially existential rock • the stranger - billy joel 🎭 a classic, something i feel connects me and my dad :) just helps you confront your true self in a musical way • aalas ka pedh - the local train 🚈 sooo full of love and heartbreak, this is a very balladic album <3 • an evening with silk sonic - silk sonic 📺 this is shower listening for me; each songs melds into each other so well, but remains distinct !

Tippy top of the list is easily Us and Them by Pink Floyd. Obviously anything off of dark side of the moon is an immediate classic. Such a beautiful album. A newer band I recently found is “The growlers.” they have some awesome alt rock sounding, good vibes songs. Some of them feel a little “surfy” if that’s your vibe. Favorite song by them rn is easily “dope on a rope.” A little different of a rec than the first two is another song I hold close to me is “Going in circles” by Friends of Distinction. More of an R&B/Soul group, they have an incredibly warm feeling to this song. If you want something for your softer side, anything by a girl in red is always the vibe.

romanticise ur blunders & ur missteps, bc that is just part of being a creature. if u saw a duckling fall flat on its face and scramble 2 its feet u wouldn't judge the freakin duckling, u would think it was the cutest thing ever. because it is. we r just organisms in big ungainly bodies, and that is part of our charm. tripping over ur own feet is maybe the most adorable thing u can do. like awwhh u tripped on the pavement </333 this extends 2 social interactions 2. messaging exes that u miss them, making a joke that doesn't land, mishearing/not knowing/forgetting something, etc??!!?! SO SWEET. genuinely such wonderful & important & adorable things 2 do. i think this is maybe the best thing i've ever managed 2 train my brain 2 do. it isn't foolproof but it makes life a lot gentler.

just about everything that happens to you will be interesting to your future self/your descendants/archaeologists. immortalise your to do lists, shopping lists, packing lists, things that loved ones say, things that strangers say, the phrases you hear that would make a good band name. brainstorm what to do on the weekend, list your cravings, the songs stuck in your head, transcribe birdsong, etc. i track my periods & my finances in my journal. sometimes if i really want to take a photo of something i'll restrain myself and draw it in my journal instead. sometimes i take notes for uni in there, or draft sewing patterns, or sketch when im bored. journals are self-portraits!!!!!!!
