i have mentioned this collection before and likely will again... it is so imaginative and immersive and strange! i read it many years ago and need to revisit desperately!! very dimensional science fiction stories with distinct language style and masterful worldbuilding. also he coined the term "cyberspace" in the burning chrome title story. written and compiled in the 1980s
The granddaddy to all cyberpunk media, and incredibly prescient given our current moment. Coined the term βCyberspaceβ. Gibson wrote this on a typewriter in the canadian wilderness in 1984. It was his first novel. I finished it in 4 days after kicking it around for years. immediately moved on to the sequel. Honestly prescient doesnβt even begin to describe how accurately this book predicted our present, and its future.
Strange guy and somewhat inconsistent, but a conceptual genius. Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? is my favorite scifi novel for how thematically relevant it is to the modern human experience.
Slaughterhouse Five is amazing but only vaguely qualifies as scifi
dude who wrote 2001. I dunno what to say except that it is one of the best sci-fi pieces or art i'v ever consumed.i like sci-fi as analogy / modern mythology. the most popular political critiques like star wars and matrix are subliminally about issues swept under the rug in mainstream discourse, but allowed and celebrated in fantasy setting, we see it explode with popularity.with real life or non-fiction we like to pretend things we don't like aren't happening, but we can face them in sci-fi.
i have my dream job, live in my dream city, love my friends, love my wardrobe, love my apartment... sometimes the bliss hits me all at once. i have so much to be grateful for!! :'3
i am so obsessed with the prehistoric world and the art made during that time! so deeply moving and inspiring to me, i feel the magnitude of these works with my whole heart
