Feels very on brand with a lot of the “enjoy the little things” recs I see on this site. Simple, clear writing about looking at the world

I read it years ago so the details are hazy but I still think about it often. Does a really good job depicting what it’s like to be a human trapped in your own body and mind, and trying so hard to connect with another, but sometimes our own devices get in the way. how something as minor as indigestion can feel like an insurmountable and untimely occurence

Quick read—experiential, compelling, and memorable. Retrofuturist sci fi soup for the existential soul. Was it my favorite book of all time? Hardly. But it moved me and it was a perfectly lovely way to spend an afternoon. Am curious now to see Last Year At Marienbad, for which it served as the inspiration, as well as various direct film adaptations.

a friend rec’d this for me 2 yrs ago, & I thought, “what kind of book is called cloud cuckoo land.” I went into it pretty blind, & I think u should do the same. it has Greek mythology, themes of climate anxiety, the interconnectedness of humanity, etc. so many good things & beautifully written. I just finished it & I’m still processing my thoughts so none of this is eloquently written but i highly recommend!!

I work on a college campus where we have this statue of a rat with giant balls and it has become a regular phenomenon for students/people to offer their vapes to the ball rat. It is both so silly and so beautiful to me.

Give me an everyday object that looks like a critter any day of the week. We don’t have art deco intricacy but we do have telephone booths shaped like dolphins!
