When I first read this book (my first Didion) I thought: Oh, this is what everyone I admire has been reading! She is the OG!! The way she writes about life, about the world we all live in... it's just honest and completely lucid.
By Anna Jackson Reading this book is like sipping on the most perfectly steeped cup of peppermint tea. Very grounding. It honestly changed how I read, and how I think about what I read. I took my time reading the book over a few months, and scribbled a whole journal full of poems in the process. The author is from New Zealand so she references a lot of contemporary kiwi poets!
today i found myself moved to tears by various excerpts of autobiography of red & as a young girl i have related to eros the bittersweet more than most if not all coming of age novelโฆ her interviews poems essays translations all make me feel so much
i like to read a book that is completely about one animal or one type of organism. i read a book about eels a while ago, and i think i forgot about eels for a while but they exist! they are real. anyone knows a book like that?
