Also have to put one out for Jackie. It's so haunting and elegiac. It was so smart to just zero-in on what was essentially the defining moment in her role as First Lady. We can never really *know* someone through a biopic, and the filmmakers know this. Jackie is about the myth of Jackie herself, the ghosts of history, and the power of a narrative. It's also gorgeous if spooky to live in... the Mica Levi score, Natalie's performance, the 16mm film cinematography. I feel like this film should have received more love, but culturally we seem kinda over the American President films...
one woman show/ stand up special released yesterday on netflix. 2 hour long poetic reflection on a very familiar (to me) sexual anxiety. makes me wish i could be that esoteric about my neuroses. absolutely hilarious comforting and spiritual time with my favorite podcast (poog) cohost
i don’t know how a plane flies in the sky and i choose not to know so every flight is magical and mysterious. i also feel this way with records — the little grooves and a needle can make sound waves ?!? how, I’ll never know
