what fills your days?

asking this when meeting someone new, fun discovery process for both parties! instead of “so what do you do for work?” or for the collegiates: “what’s your major?” this question serves the choose-your-own-adventure purpose because not everyone is afforded/prefers a stable job or education. it also allows you to get to know someone better, maybe they’re going to tell you about the 200 plants they take care of, or the profound though they’ve been stuck on. or, maybe they will think you’re weird and just tell you what they do for work, which is fine too, because it also answers the question. plus, people get excited when you ask them this. it’s unconventional in those early stages, cool points awarded brethren.

whatever comes up organically tbh

my brain doesn’t bookmark questions like that, so I would have to reference a list or something. most of my questions are centered around asking people to expand on things that are brought up in live discussion, creating a space for them to be vulnerable and share deep shit with me, etc.

Asking more personal questions when chatting N actually listening to the answers

i think everybody hates small talk, but everybody is also very different from each other, I guess it’s a matter of being understanding with the person or people you’re talking to at the moment. But I do think that personal questions and talking about real life experiences is what gets conversations going, it’s also what makes you remember people and want to reconnect with them. when talking to somebody new there’s nothing better to a first impression than someone who engages and listens. We get what we give so might as well give as much as we can.
