55 years ago today, the MC5 unleashed their beast upon the world outside Detroit (which was already well familiar with their anarchy/damage schtick). Proto-punk perfection. Also pouring one out for my dude Wayne Kramer today - an absolute legend. 🎸

The 5 are one of the most important groups to ever perform and record, right up there for me with the Stooges, the Velvets and the Clash. I got to know him a bit and his non profit work with the incarcerated via his Jail Guitar Doors initiative marked him out as ‘special.’ He was lovable, generous, wryly funny, immensely talented and gone too soon. (Who passed away today). Guitar hero and founding member of the band. MC5 are punk legends whose short run is packed with hits (to me) that are overflowing with raw energy.
