Whenever I text with my mom, I code-switch to the way she texts and liberally sprinkle in hug, praying, and heart emojis wherever I can, and sometimes even break out Obama-era gifs. I think moms often live in a little bubble where they're just less self-conscious about what's cool or not on social media, and just interact with it in a more sincere way. From the outside it can look cheesy, but what it really is is a break from all the irony, cynicism, and microtrends where you can just be yourself 💕🥰💐
