I think both are are Forms of ego death and the release of worldly forms in exchange for unearthly knowledge, the only difference is end of both expierences…

from personal experience I have never been one to seek out/dive into ego death nor have I thought about the similarity between the experience and dying (I actively avoid the thought of mortality when I’m in the middle of a psychedelic exp)
perhaps I’m jaded or burnt out but I really do believe psychs are tools to explore a different form of consciousness and they aren’t always a net positive. sometimes it’s also very disturbing, not every psych experience I’ve had resulted in ego dissolution or loss but it’s helped me negotiate the size of my ego in many cases when it’s been positive

I sat and read two books in the afternoon today, and this otherworldly, ineffable feeling fell over me like a spell. It was like being caressed lovingly by a thousand Eskimo feathers whilst angel tears washed over my body.
