You can absolutely feel like you’re getting lost in the North Woods of Central Park. There are little hiking paths and streams, boulders, and fewer people than the touristy southern parts of the park. A nice bonus is when you come out on the northeastern side you can peer over Harlem Meer and likely see some ducks! Hon. mention to Riverside Park (seconding the person who said that), Inwood Hill Park, and Fort Tryon Park (and the Cloisters!)

💯 echo the north woods of CP, Riverside, and Inwood- and also being near the water during summer mornings and evenings, whether that’s the lawns at Chelsea Piers or the south section of Domino Park; and then, both the Bronx and BK botanic gardens consistently re-charge me during the winter/spring flux time (especially given how huge the BX grounds are). Obvi paying to go isn’t ideal, but both have some good discounted or pay what you want options for NYers that are worth looking into! 🌳

it's way less busy than the city's other major parks and feels like a genuine forest in certain parts. go for a walk, a picnic, or just bring a book :)

I like to take long walks, typically in the park. I live in Brooklyn, New York and I like to walk around Prospect Park. At the south end of the park there's a little area with a couple of benches in it, like a little sanctuary and I like to go over there to sit on the bench and watch all the different birds out in the pond. I like to go there in all different kinds of weather and see how it changes throughout the year. I just really get a kick out of nature and it actually can be pretty quiet there sometimes, which is hard to find in New York City.

Even if you have other creative pursuits that require your brain to work, it’s fun to have one that requires very little thought or attention. I started crocheting a couple years ago and it’s perfect while sitting in front of the TV or listening to a podcast or just zoning out. Makes me feel productive even as my brain melts out my ears, and makes me feel creative even when I’m not doing any cooler, more challenging projects that require more of my energy.
