Can't say I have any personal experience with this, but it's something I've been considering for a bit. The overwhelming abundance and the tinny low-quality sound of digital media is making me crave records. Going full 2010's hipster mode and getting a record player. Warm, full sound and it invites you to sit (or lay down) with the full album. No option for skips and you can get deeper into what you're hearing. You're inspiring me to take the leap.
Oh I love this. I’ve been collecting physical media since the late 2010’s and trust it will change ur life. The best feeling is a pre-roll and laying on your bedroom floor just listening to vinyl
just dont go full 2010 indie hipster and get a crosley, IMO the AT-LP60 is the BEST starter record player. had mine for like 10 years and only now thinking of upgrading
Buying a Walkman cd player and carrying a book at all times is making life so much more enjoyable than using my phone all the time. Idk what it is but it just feels so much more like I’m living life. I have severe anxiety and honestly these changes have helped me so incredibly much. Not to mention that it is so much better for the artist when we buy their album vs. streaming. Currently reading: Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami. Currently listening: Parklife (cd) by Blur
discovering new music worlds with physical records and not from the comfort of a phone screen can be so refreshing and interesting. embrace how people used to do it there is so much old music out there to be found and listened to in its purest form
i'm sorry but the hipsters were right - they really hit different. the hyper-intentionality of having to actually get your fucking ass out of your chair and manually pick a vibe for the current moment. the way it neatly segments whatever activity you're doing into 20-22 minute chunks. the way its imperfections make the experience of a given album wholly unique to your particular setup. the way the cases are so big that they can be tiny little posters. great stuff all around
some people go their whole lives without experiencing something they want to do or allowing themselves to try something. the rules are made up. you are not too old for anything
