realising science is beautiful

wow i recently realised that in scans of cells etc - the cells aren't colourful themselves but it's the process of the fluorescent dyes they use to see the results... here is a pic of some serotonin crystals under a microscope... like how cool and pretty? science is so beautiful

Copper coils in a Rock Laboratory

Visited my friend’s lab in London. It’s cool he vaporizes rock samples with a laser and ultimately gets data about when and at what temperature different parts of the rock were formed or somthing, idk tho. I’m pretty sure this pic is of a mass spectrometer. I love how magical copper coils are. Loopy. Straight witchery. Pump some current and magnetic field goes brrr Occult shit. Electromagnetism stays winning

About a year ago, I started my first (public sector) union job after years of non-union work for different companies in the private sector. The difference in collective bargaining (0-100), benefits, job security, and mental/physical well being has been nothing short of amazing. If you are currently strung out, feeling hopeless about your career in a private sector/non-union position or field, and are wondering if there’s something better for you - there is. I took a massive pay cut from private-public for the many benefits of a union job, and it was 100% worth it. Roughly 35% of public sector jobs are union-represented, and that percentage is higher in blue, worker-friendly states. Start applying to open positions that may interest you on your local/state government’s job board, use any connection you may have (I didn’t have one and still found something) - there is a better career for you out there :)

Normalize drawing baths for yourself

I’ve noticed that baths tend to have a certain stigma to them in modern society. In the past, when I’ve communicated my love for baths to family, friends, and strangers on the street, I’ve been met with judgement and condescension. Are you a legit baby?, Grow up!, Time for you to enter the 21st Century! When you experience someone belittling you for your love of baths, it hits you in a deep part of your soul. I shouldn’t have to defend myself for taking a relaxing bath 2-3 times a day! It’s time for everyone to wipe the dust off their tubs, hop in, and rediscover the joy of baths!
