remember that most people here, and on the rest of the internet, know just as little as you.
my time on instagram has shown me that likes and followers do not dictate good taste. my time on reddit has shown me that upvotes do not dictate good taste.
internet recommendations might be a good starting point, but they are kind of a crutch. Don't rely too much on recommendations, don't treat them as gospel, don't use them to replace your own taste.
develop good taste for yourself. it makes life tastier.

In an age where everyone says “it was fine, just not for me”, our culture has suffered from a lack of gatekeeping and actual criticism. Its how we build taste! Say something sucks or is unbelievably good and give great reasons why! You’ll always get more respect

It’s cool to learn new things, it’s cool to develop some new skills. It’s cool to be able to access a whole bunch of data and knowledge at your fingertips.
Don’t let some guy on a podcast become your father figure or give you financial advice or try to anoint you with another monolithic identity not too dissimilar from the one you vowed to leave behind.
Life doesn’t get any better, but YOU do.

I feel like this place isn't about people but about recommendations, right? forget the influencer, forget the individual, just browse and talk about cool shit and whoever says something good, that's good. that's what I liked about reddit, back when I actually liked reddit.
I haven't found many people I want to follow, and I'm not really looking.

I've been enjoying new clothes, and experimenting them with fun ways, so much lately that I need to keep reminding myself of this. Not every excursion outside needs to be fresh and new and experimental. If I am going out and I need a warm sweater and I need my sneakers and I already have a fit in mind with those pieces, I can just wear it, I don't need to reinvent the wheel every time.
