Seek out a friend (or two) who is a music freak like you and… — send each other a song each day (something new you found, something you are listening to on repeat, a mood, a song blasting from a car that drives by that you hadn’t thought of in a long time, a weird song playing at the deli, a song in a movie that blows your mind- whateva tf you wanna share with your friends) — send no more than one song per day/you can skip a day if the mood doesn’t strike/you can send more than one if you beg for forgiveness — start a playlist on spotify to collectively store the songs everyone shares, in a few years (like me) you’ll have a SOTD playlist with over 900 perfect songs on it.

My best friend and I have a collaborative playlist to which we add songs almost daily -- whenever I’m thinking of her she’ll know bc I would’ve already added a song to it!

And then making a playlist out of the recommendations and basking in the music your friends like. Musical potluck

This is my love language. I’ve loved It since the days of making mix CDs, so I typically keep them to 18-20 songs. Somewhere around an hour. Playlists can be infinite now, but adding self-imposed limitations forces you to make choices and be intentional. It makes for better playlists. Sometimes I make playlists for people based around a theme (like Fall) but other times it’s a random word or word phrase like “retro futurism.” The goal is always to find those gems that people will hear for the first time and go, “Oh man, I love that song.”

A fun game I like to play with myself is if I want to buy clothes, makeup, shoes, hair care, household items etc… I have to look it up on a resale site first where I will usually find it for cheaper and feel good about not contributing to a Bezos-centric society.
